Ok, so first off, this is NOT a thread about how the drop rate works, why I am or am not getting good drops or any other complaint about the drop rate. My only question is this, is there any viable truth about farming an area over and over by simply rezoning back into town (like doing the oro quest or FA quest over and over from the war camp) reduce your chances for better drops each time? When I say better I am talking about rare items and green items...

Reason I ask is that I have 3 characters all who have finished the game (am leaving the other slot open for chapter 2 characters) and who have done almost all the missions + bonuses + quests. I do not play PvP so the only thing left for me to do in GW is farm for either the 15k armour, farm for gold for chapter 2, or farm to get some unique drops that I do not already have (like a Sup Vigor for all my characters). If I am reducing my chances than I would like to know that cuz I would stop playing and wait for chapter 2. I think this would be a horrible implementation from Anet's side. I do not feel like I should have to farm other places or take breaks from my favorite farming areas just to satisfy some stupid formula that hinders my chance of getting good drops.....

I'm pretty much the same as urself, completed most if not all of the quests mission, bonus ect.

And like urself i dont PvP very much if at all.

so farming for wotever my reasons is the only other thing apart from helping ppl & guildies out with missions left that i enjoy.

And to answer ur question from my experience i say Yes after a certain amount of consecutive runs in a particular area the Quality of my drops i.e Rare's, Runes etc do degrade. The Quantity however stays pretty much the same. the reason the Quality of the drops decreases from my understanding is that each area has an " Item Pool " i.e a certain amount of Good Items and over time this " Pool " of items gets depleted.

The way i overcome this to a degree is not to stick to farming 1 particular area all the time but switch to another area once i feel the Quality of drops from 1 area are starting to deplete, kind of put several areas on a rotation system. Plus having a secondary account which also has a farmer gives me 2 bites of the cherry as it where.

My advise would be to farm different locations, if it starts to yeld less Quality go somewhere else for a day or two then try again. I ofthen do this with Ettins as 1 day i can go out and get lots of Gold / Purple armors the next get none.
